Ari Murukku


  • Saras roasted rice powder- 1 cup
  • Urad dal – 2 tablespoons
  • Chana dal – 1 tablespoon
  • Kashmiri chilli powder- ½ tablespoon
  • Asafoetida powder- ¼ teaspoon
  • Butter- 2 tablespoons
  • Seasame seed- 1 tablespoon
  • Oil- 8 to 10 tablespoons
  • Water- 130 ml
  • Salt to taste

Method of Preparation

Take a pan and roast 2 tablespoons of urad dal and one tablespoon of chana dal. After cooling, grind it in a mixi to make fine powder. Filter it using a sieve. Mix it with 1 cup of rice powder, ½ tablespoon of Kashmiri chilli powder, ¼ teaspoon of asafoetida powder, 2 tablespoons of melted butter, 1 tablespoon of seasame seed and salt to taste. Mix it by adding around 130 ml of
water slowly to get a soft dough. Put the dough in murukku maker or sevanazhi of having star shapped achu.

In a pan, pour 8 to 10 tablespoons of oil. When the oil gets heated, squeeze out the doughinto the oil in the desired shape. Fry both sides until it become light brown in colour. Take it out and serve.
