Rainbow puttu

Ingredients

  • Saras Puttu Powder – 4 cups
  • Ragi Powder- 1 cup
  • Wheat Powder- 1 cup
  • Carrot juice-1 cup
  • Beetroot juice- 1 cup
  • Drumstick leaves juice- 1cup
  • Grated Coconut- 1
  • Water for mixing
  • Salt to taste

Method of preparation
To make the juices take one small sized carrot, small sized beetroot and a medium sized
bowl full of drumstick leaves. Finely chop each item and crush them in a mixer grinder separately.
Mix and blend it with an adequate amount of water to make the juice. Filter and keep the juices in
separate bowls.
Now we should make puttu in six different colours. Take ragi powder and mix it with salt
and a little water. Make sure that the flour is moistured properly and there are no big lumps. Keep it
aside for 15 to 20 minutes. Repeat the same for wheat powder and for one cup of Saras puttu
powder. Take the rest of Saras Puttu Powder and mix it with carrot, beetroot and drumstick juices
in separate bowls. Add salt for taste and keep it aside for 15 -20 minutes. Make sure that the powder
is not over moistured and there are no big lumps.
Take your Puttu maker and fill the puttu kutti (cylindrical part) with grated coconut and
puttu powder of different colours, that you just made, alternatively. Place it over the stove and cook
until it is ready. Serve hot.
Note: 1)You can also make each puttu with one ingredient. Thereby you can prepare Carrot puttu,
              Beetroot puttu, Drumstick puttu, Ragi puttu, Wheat puttu and White rice puttu separately.
          2) For Carrot puttu you can use grated carrot instead of carrot juice.
